Council: Wokingham Project Size: 710sqft
The brief called for a new kitchen/dining/living space that had a better relationship to the rear garden. Originally the kitchen was at the front of the property in the darkest part of the house and had space only for a two person dining table. The new layout had to work extremely hard for a small semi-detached property. A vaulted gable extension was proposed to bring in maximum amounts of light and create a sense of space.
As the remaining garden was fairly small, a selection of materials was proposed for the extension to create architectural interest. The rear extension exhibits a combination of red cedar cladding, render and zinc cladding.
